It’s Official! ASUU Declares Indefinite Strike From 14th August 2017

Following the outcome of the referendum meeting held Sunday afternoon in Abuja by the union leaders, the Academic staff Union of Universities has declared an indefinite strike from Monday 14th August 2017. This the Union leader says is to persuade the Federal government to meet their demands. This came after several branches of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have voted overwhelmingly for members in both federal and state universities to embark on an indefinite strike to press home the implementation of their demands.

ASUU branches nationwide on Friday held a referendum in line with an earlier directive by the National Executive Council (NEC) to vote whether the strike will be indefinite strike, one month strike, one-week warning and no strike.

The meeting of ASUU NEC is currently ongoing at the union’s secretariat at Abuja to deliberate on the outcome of the referendum conducted by the branches.
Feelers from the NEC meeting indicate that several of the branches including the University of Lagos (UNILAG), University of Ibadan (UI) and Lagos State University (LASU) voted for an indefinite industrial action.

One of ASUU Zonal Coordinators told our Correspondent that his zone voted overwhelmingly for the strike and that the outcome of the referendum conducted on Friday will be collated to enable the union take a position.

Among issues in contention includes, federal government breach of the 2009 FG/ASUU Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed agreement on financing grant to state universities, conditions of service, non-implementation of Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) and re -negotiation of the agreement.

Other outstanding issues are non-provision of revitalization funds to public universities, non-release of NUPEMCO operational licence, payment of half salaries to members and government owing universities outstanding N880 billion in intervention fund.

ASUU Strike: ASUU To Decide On August 2017 Nation Wide Strike On Sunday

The leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, will hold a crucial meeting this weekend to determine if the union will proceed on ASUU Strike.
ASUU had earlier asked all its branches in the various universities to conduct a referendum of members to decide whether or not a nationwide strike should be held over its demands. The final decision on the strike is expected to be made after a review of the referendum conducted by the chapters.

An earlier deadline given by ASUU to the federal government to meet its demands ended today (Friday).

The scheduled meeting where ASUU will take its final decision starts today (Friday) and ends on Sunday (August 13) in Abuja.

ASUU major demands include issues concerning the welfare of members as well as funding of universities among others. The Union and the federal government have been negotiating these demands since November 2016.

MMM Nigeria’s July Breakthrough: Promo-Task Contest, Sustainability Update & 20% Release of Mavro-2016

The end of July saw a breakthrough for MMM Nigeria in order to accelerate Community growth and achieve sustainability for an unlimited period of time.

To accelerate growth, we have launched a weekly Promo-Task contest. Now members will get points for completing promo-tasks. Whoever receives the biggest number of points gets awarded. We will start with 50 prizes and will later increase this number. For details, read the news.

To ensure sustainable Community operation for an unlimited period (in particular, to prevent a break in December 2017 like it was in December 2016). MMM Nigeria has implemented the long-awaited advanced update of getting help procedure. This progressive update was developed within many months. So when you create a request to get help, you will see a maximum amount for withdrawal in the current week. The remaining balance of the Mavros will become available for GH next weeks. The Mavros keep growing just like before. The total amount of Mavros does not change. The idea is that it will not be possible to withdraw all available money at once. You can create a new GH-request after 7 days from the date of previous GH-request creation. Due to the technical complexity of the implemented algorithms, the process of orders matching was stopped. The dispatching for provide and get help will be re-launched now.

It certainly increases the Community’s sustainability and places a priority on the honest members while disregarding dishonest members who tend to treat MMM as a  ‘hit and run’ scheme. You provide help (“seeding”) and you receive help as the Community grows (“harvesting”). This update is targeted on the Community Sustainability and fast growth. Now this update has been implemented in many MMM countries and has shown good results.

To release Mavro-2016 sooner, a new action has been launched. So, if you provide help up to August 5 you get your ‘Mavro-2016-Contributions’ released for 20% rather than 10% how it was before. To avoid excessive load on the System, the release for 10% by contributions of your referrals has been stopped. For more details, read the news.

MMM is an advanced and progressive Community that is continuously improving and is adjusting for more development and sustainability!

By our efforts, MMM Nigeria will overcome!

We are changing the world!
